WotLK leveling

Wrath of the Lich King leveling is insanely easy! I started out in Howling Fjord. After I finished that zone, I went to the other starting zone, Borean Tundra, to do the quests there, since I figured they would be easy XP for me.

That was a great idea if I have to say so myself! Last night, I dinged 75 and I still have not finished Borean Tundra. Technically, I’m still in the starting zones!

Leveling was definitely not this easy in the Burning Crusade! I’m sure it’s helped that I’ve done a LOT of the new instances as well. I’ve completed Utgarde Keep four times, three of which I tanked, the Nexus about five times, all as ret and Azjol-Nerub twice, as ret.

Azjol-Nerub is insanely short and very easy. I believe there are only 9 pulls in the whole instance and 3 bosses. I received various gear upgrades for all of my gear sets – dps, tanking and healing.

I’ve been leveling mostly as ret. I did respec for a short time in Howling Fjord so that I could tank Utgarde Keep for the group I was in. I was going to go back to ret immediately after that group but I decided I’d try leveling as prot. It wasn’t bad at all! With Hammer of the Righteous, prot leveling has never been easier. I did go back to ret after gaining 75% of a level as prot, but now that I have Shield of Righteousness, I’m very intrigued and might just go back to prot to level, since I’d be able to tank any instance I wanted to step foot in and tanks are somewhat difficult to find while leveling.

The next zone is Dragonblight. I hope some of the quests turn out to be a little more difficult than the two starting zones.

I’ve got to point out that the amount of healing gear that I’ve accumulated is somewhat maddening! If a quest reward didn’t upgrade my dps or my tanking sets, then I took whatever piece of armor had the most intellect or spellpower, with an emphasis on intellect.

My pally is level 70!

I finally dinged level 70 on my paladin Sunday morning! I had a lot of spell upgrades, including Blessing of Might, Rank 8 and Avenging Wrath! My pally finally has her wings! It seems like I’ll have to wait for boss fights and/or soloing elites to use them though, since I seem to blow through mob too quickly.

I purged about 70% of my addons yesterday as well. A lot of them were mostly fluff that I didn’t need. I still have the most important ones though, Bartender4, FuBar and Perl Classic.

I also got my flying mount for her as well, which is awful slow when you have the epic flyers on two other toons, even with Crusader Aura.

I’ve been running a lot of instances lately and have been amassing rep. I’m not going to bother trying to farm honor for any PvP gear since Wrath will be out on November 13th so I’ve been buying whatever reputation PvP gear I can get. The ret set is called Crusaders Scaled Battlegear. I’ve got two pieces so far, the legs (Crusader’s Scaled Legguards) and the hands (Crusader’s Scaled Gauntlets).

This pally is a lot of fun! Even with the post-3.0.2 nerfs, playing as ret is still much better than pre-3.0.2; we’re still op!

Tanked Slave Pens, dinged 68

On Sunday night, I tanked for the second time. I tanked slave pens so that I could finish up a quest that netted me 22k experience and some rep.

I’d like to get to honored with Sporeggar so that I can buy the best AoE grinding shield for pallys, the Petrified Lichen Guard! I only need to complete “Now that we’re still friends…” quest 5 more times before I can get the shield. That shield coupled with a Felsteel Shield Spike is a AoE paladin’s dream!

My pally dinged 68 on Monday morning, just before work. That means I got to equip The Oathkeeper I found on the auction house for 40g!

Today is the day of the much coveted 3.0.2 patch! Ret pallys got an insane amount of buffs this patch. We actually got a good crowd control spell in Repentance! Repentance is like a long range sap.

I’m very excited to play with the new spell and abilities. Ret paladins will now be *very* viable for dps spots in instance groups!

Paladin is almost 70!

I went to bed last night only 20k experience from 67 and I had to go to sleep in preparation for coming to work today. I got dressed and showered rather quickly for some reason and had some time to play before work.

I’m in Nagrand at the moment after I flew threw Zangarmarsh and Terokkar Forest. I barely finished the ring of blood quests in Nagrand. I was unlucky enough to be the only healing capable class in the party so once again, I healed as ret. We wiped 3 times on the first boss and finally got to the 3rd before one of the party members had to leave. The tank grew tired of my lackluster healing and called in a 70 lock buddy of his and a 64 holy priest. Despite the help, we wiped once more and then finally finished up the quests. I got the Honed Voidaxe as my reward. This will soon be replaced by The Oathkeeper that I can equip at level 68. Speaking of which, I need to start looking for it in the AH!

Speaking of the AH, I finally replace my paladin’s netherweave bags with some imbued netherweave bags! Ideally, I’d like to have some primal mooncloth bags, but they are ridiculously expensive (300 gold-ish each x 4 = lots o’ gold).

I had one quest to turn in and that gave me 5800 xp and a very easy quest to burn some buildings near the Horde city in Nagrand. So I ran over there and in the process of trying to burn the buildings and killing the mobs in the area, I actually dinged 67! Yay pally!

Pally is 61 and holy atm

I’ve managed to level my pally up to 61. I wanted to do some instances as ret but I got booted after it was determined that our warrior tank would be better as dps and a new tank was found…

So I bit the bullet and went holy since I had some +healing gear already. I healed almost all of ramparts up until the last boss. We wiped 2x before one of our party members got pissy and left group. My lack of healing was the major reason for the wipes.

After not having any luck finding another dps (seriously…), someone asked their friend to help out, a 70 hunter. That fight went from being super difficult to being a joke.

After I turned in the quests for the ramparts run, I got some quests to run blood furnace. I figured “what the hell, I’m already holy” and I started looking for a group for blood furnace. After finally getting a group, the run didn’t last long at all. We didn’t even make it to the first boss. Initially, we had a ret pally tanking and me healing. Our dps group consisted of 3 warlocks.

One of the warlocks had to go so we found a feral druid. We asked him to tank and he agreed but he didn’t know how. I had to tell him how to pull with a druid in bear form, even though I’ve never tanked anything with a druid, I knew that they had a ranged “spell” to pull with.

When I get home tonight, I’ll be going back to ret and abandoning those quests for blood furnace. It took too long to find a group and then not even being able to complete the run.

I did get to heal some battlegrounds though, that was a bit more fun than healing an instance.

Quitting and restarting Warcraft, job, TS Fay

I stopped playing World of Warcraft for about 2 months. I continued to read blogs about it and intended to pick it back up when the Wrath of the Lich King came out (which is supposed to be before Christmas 2008). Well I finally caved and reactivated my account. I’ve managed to get my rogue up to level 28. My last update here was for level 26 back on June 14. At this point, I’m really unsure if I’ll continue to try and play it since finding time to play has been difficult lately.

I started my new job almost three weeks ago. During the first two weeks, everything was awesome! I was busy and I was learning a new system AND I was writing code again! Well this past week, things have slowed down tremendously. I’ve been dragging out “research” assignments as much as possible and trying to pass the time any way that I can.

Tropical Storm Fay was supposed to hit Orlando almost directly! Well it didn’t. Fay went south and then east of Orlando. We didn’t get much in the form of wind and rain when we were “supposed” to (i.e. when Fay was south of us) but we did get a LOT of rain when Fay stalled out on the East coast of Florida! It rained for almost 4 full days. Some of the East coast counties received over 3 feet of rain over a 4 day period!

WoW fascination

So I’ve been playing WoW quite a bit lately. I’m re-fascinated with the game since I really started with my rogue (Backpain of Maiev). She’s dinged 24 just a few moments ago. Leveling combat-specced rogues while dual-wielding swords, seems like cheating in my opinion – everything seems to go down pretty fast with them!

That pally of mine (level 55) is on hold for a while. My account is due to be cancelled on 6/23 (15 days from now) but I don’t think I’m going to let it – at least that’s what I’m thinking now!

pally hit 55 this morning, yay! rich is going to have his druid to 70 before I have my pally there! if I had ANY time to play, that would not have been the case. he’s a warcraft addict, to be sure.

I went swimming with Aaron twice yesterday. the second time, I got some water in my ear and it is bothering the hell out of me. it’s like the pressure from a plane ride minus the pain. it is just annoying more than anything.

I installed FF3 RC1 on my home pc and now on my work laptop. at home, it seemed a lot faster. That may or may not be an actual speed increase on the browsers end since 90% of my add-ons were incompatible (and therefore disabled) when FF3 was installed.

There is a bunch of talk about Microsoft buying facebook. Check it out on friendfeed.com here and here! Given the example that Robert Scoble gave in his blog post about why this would be a bad thing, I agree that with his opinion that this could be very bad for the internet in general. He kicked off the discussion on twitter.com.
